Which option to choose?
Total Words is designed to help schools and parents tailor their reading programmes to meet the needs of their children. It is a cost-effective learning solution for schools and parents, delivering high-quality books, worksheets and progress data.
Scenario 1: "We are an inner city school with a high number of pupils who need to increase their reading skills. A Whole School Total Words package is best for us because we need to make sure every teacher knows that they’re doing all they can to deliver the most effective reading programme."
Scenario 2: "I'm a year 4 teacher. Half of my class have weak reading skills. The Data Impact Targeted Reading package is best for this class. The whole class can focus on their daily reading achievements. I have raised my expectations based on the data that I see. Pupils are showing me that they can learn more than I had anticipated."
Scenario 3: "We’re a small school with limited library resources, and so having a digital library available in all classes is ideal for us. The Classroom Reading Package is best for us. We have 5 children who are using the Individual Challenge at home and at school, and it’s great that the books they are reading are no different to the books that the rest of the class have available to them."
Scenario 4: "We’re a large secondary school. Each year we have an increasing number of Year 7s who simply don’t have the reading skills that they need. We can’t timetable reading classes for them. Scenario 6: "We had an Ofsted report that suggested we could do more to raise the literacy standards of boys, in particular. The Data Impact Targeted Reading package was best for us. In five selected classes we used the daily data to increase the amount of reading that boys were completing in order to reduce the discrepancy between the reading skills of boys and girls."
Scenario 7: I have a Year 1-2 class. The books are great on the whiteboard for whole class reading. Older Year 2s love ‘teaching’ the younger ones during wet lunchtime. We find the Achieve Digital Classroom option perfect.
